Compare a finish refresh with a customer-route change
Keeping the sales layout may call for selected floor coverings, counters and wall finishes to leave. Creating a different route between reception, sales desks and vehicle displays can add non-structural room removals and new finish boundaries. The proposed design should explain which outcome is intended.
The retail strip-out service provides the ordinary interior-removal route. A dealership address does not make hoists, fuel installations, workshop pits or vehicle movement part of that scope.
Map four adjoining zones
| Zone | Define the removal | Keep separately assigned |
|---|---|---|
| Display floor | Selected coverings and fixed display elements | Vehicles and specialist display equipment |
| Sales offices | Assessed partitions, doors and attached joinery | Structural and building-service changes |
| Customer reception | Counter and surrounding finish limits | Connected technology and retained access systems |
| Workshop edge | The agreed boundary of ordinary interior work | Hoists, pits, process equipment and workshop systems |
The receiving floor contractor needs to identify preparation and finish transitions. Removal of an old covering alone does not establish suitability for vehicles or a replacement flooring system.
Illustrative plan: keep the workshop, open the sales area
Consider a layout with enclosed sales offices along one side of the showroom and reception beside the service-department entrance. The revised design removes selected office partitions but retains reception and the workshop boundary. Mark the former wall footprints, ceiling junctions and retained doorway on the removal plan.
This illustrative comparison adds useful physical detail without assuming the business can operate during construction. The owner and project team determine vehicle clearance, retained access and any work-area release.
Resolve what the next contractor receives
Separate demolition from new storefront work, signage, floor repairs and service installation. If the design affects the building envelope or an overhead entrance, obtain the relevant professional scope rather than treating it as ordinary interior fit-out.
For an unchanged room arrangement, compare the vacant retail retention guide. For a wider sales-office package, use office strip-out.
