Start with Cultural Heritage
Vaughan's demolition application guidance requires approval from its Cultural Heritage division before applying for a demolition permit. Contact the division about the actual address and proposal. Do not substitute a Toronto heritage search or an assumption about the age of the building for Vaughan's response. Keep the approval reference with the application material.
Prepare the identified removal plan
The City asks for a survey or a site plan based on a survey identifying the building to be demolished. Its guidance also identifies professional engineer reports, plans and review commitments where required. Have the appropriate designer establish which requirements apply. Mark retained structures and any partial-removal boundary consistently across the proposal.
Keep the portal submission aligned
Applications use Vaughan's online permitting or ePlans portal. Before submitting, compare the site plan, heritage response and any professional documents for the same building and drawing issue. If a reviewer requests a change, identify which other documents it affects rather than replacing a page without checking the wider package.
Carry conditions into the removal enquiry
Give the estimator the agreed removal extent and the current status of the application, with outstanding conditions clearly labelled. A submission is not permission to start. Use the house extent schedule to organise that discussion. This guide explains a Vaughan process; it does not claim a local office, completed Vaughan project or permit service.
Questions to settle before the next step
Use this decision table with the people responsible for your property. Record the actual answers in your private project file.
| Decision | Question or evidence | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Heritage | Approval obtained before application? | City response reference |
| Drawings | Survey basis and removal identified? | Designer checks requirements |
| Application | Same proposal across all documents? | Record portal status and conditions |
Keep your completed record private. Bring the relevant scope questions into the optional project planner or discuss them directly with Clearpath.
