Separate the buildings on the property

Identify the main house, attached additions and detached buildings independently. Give each one a reference on a simple property plan. State whether the request includes each structure rather than relying on 'complete demolition'. A detached garage or an attached enclosure can otherwise be interpreted differently by the owner, contractor and following builder.

Give below-ground elements their own entries

List foundations, slabs and other known below-ground elements on separate rows. State keep, proposed removal or to confirm. Share existing drawings where available and describe the intended next use of the site. Do not investigate concealed elements yourself to complete the schedule. Excavation, fill and replacement construction are not automatically included in house removal.

Identify the retained land

Mark the land, boundaries, driveways, trees and neighbouring structures that remain. The plan should distinguish the desired removal extent from permission to use an access route. Available surveys, professional instructions and approval documents can resolve questions that a photograph cannot. Use the existing Toronto permit guide for the approval conversation.

Use an extent schedule

Compare the extent schedule with the house demolition scope before agreeing the work. Assign who confirms uncertain elements and who accepts the site condition afterwards. A question left open should remain a recorded dependency, not quietly become an inclusion. Keep the schedule with the current drawings so estimates describe the same property boundary.

Copy these headings into your own working document and complete the rows for your property. The prompts are not findings or approval of work.
