Make an electronics list before the load list

Identify computers, screens, printers and other devices separately from furniture and general contents. Toronto publishes an electronic-waste stream and item-specific instructions. Eligibility and collection arrangements depend on the item and property. Check the current municipal guidance or the intended receiver rather than assuming electronics can join mixed renovation debris.

Resolve ownership and data first

Ask the owner or organisation to decide what must be retained and who is responsible for personal or business information on a device. Keep account credentials and customer records out of the removal enquiry. An instruction to collect a computer does not authorise the contractor to inspect its files or certify secure data destruction.

Confirm acceptance before movement

Give the proposed receiver an item description and condition where relevant, without disassembling the device. Ask about batteries and any special handling instructions. Toronto directs batteries to household hazardous-waste arrangements; do not hide loose batteries inside the general contents load. Follow the responsible receiver's directions for the actual item.

Record the transfer you agreed

Use item labels in the private clearout instruction, then identify who receives each group and what acknowledgement is expected. Do not mark data destruction complete from a collection receipt alone. Connect the final decisions to the clearout instruction sheet; Clearpath collection and any specialist processing must be explicitly agreed.
