Identify the connection before the destination
List the appliance, its location and whether it is connected to gas, water, electricity or another system. Tell the assessor about built-in cabinetry and the carrying route. A decision to discard an appliance does not establish that it is disconnected or ready to move. Arrange the relevant trade assessment rather than attempting disconnection yourself.
Check who can receive the actual item
Toronto's oversized and metal-item guidance includes appliances, but item-specific preparation and property collection arrangements still matter. Consult the current instructions or a confirmed private receiver. A municipal household collection option is not evidence that a commercial refrigeration unit or every appliance from a renovation will be accepted.
Keep specialist handling explicit
For refrigeration equipment or an appliance with uncertain contents or connections, ask the receiver and responsible trade what must happen before collection. Do not cut lines, release contents or strip the appliance to fit it through a doorway. If the route or equipment requires specialist handling, have that scope confirmed separately.
Hand over a ready item, not an assumption
Record who confirms disconnection, who moves the appliance and who receives it. If reuse is intended, ask the recipient about condition and acceptance before removal. Add those decisions to the partial kitchen plan or the restaurant equipment brief. Neither general removal page promises appliance servicing.
Questions to settle before the next step
Use this decision table with the people responsible for your property. Record the actual answers in your private project file.
| Decision | Question or evidence | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | Relevant systems and responsible trade | Confirmation before movement |
| Route | Built-in position, openings and stairs | Assessed collection method |
| Destination | Reuse recipient or accepted disposal | Acceptance and receipt expected |
Keep your completed record private. Bring the relevant scope questions into the optional project planner or discuss them directly with Clearpath.
