Start with the top-up design

The responsible professionals determine structural feasibility, support, construction sequence and required approvals. Clearpath can assess a specifically defined residential removal contribution; this guide does not promise structural design, underpinning, roof construction or weather enclosure.

A rear extension has a different retained-building interface. Use the addition-removal interface plan for that boundary rather than copying it as a roof-removal specification.

This is an illustrative section comparison, not a work sequence or engineering detail.

Compare roof-only scope with connected renovation

One developed proposal may minimise changes to lower rooms while adding the storey. Another may also renew the main-floor kitchen and alter assessed non-structural partitions. The second adds ordinary interior work that should be listed separately from the roof-related package.

Draw the finish edges around retained rooms. A new service route or stair can affect ceilings and fixed fittings beyond the obvious roof area. The designer and receiving builder should identify those connections before the accepted removal is finalised.

Allocate the exposed-building period

The GC and responsible professionals must define support and enclosure responsibilities and determine how the property will be managed between removal and new construction. Do not assume a demolition scope includes a weather-tight temporary roof or continued occupancy.

The retain, partly remove or rebuild comparison helps if the household is still choosing between fundamentally different designs.

Request a specifically defined assessment

Discuss the proposal with Clearpath with the property, reviewed drawings, retained construction and project lead. Separate the residential partial-removal request from ordinary interior demolition and identify any engineering or enclosure decisions still outstanding.
