List every structure in the proposal

A house, detached garage and shed may be discussed together in one removal enquiry, but the permit application structure matters. Brampton publishes separate paths for residential dwellings, accessory or detached buildings, and non-residential buildings. Identify every structure and whether each is retained or removed before choosing the portal submission.

Follow the residential route for the dwelling

The City describes residential demolition control under its bylaw and Section 33 of the Planning Act. Its guidance asks applicants to upload the residential demolition application as part of the portal submission. Ask Building staff about the actual proposal and required package rather than relying on a general statement that small work needs no permit.

Keep accessory buildings in their own application

Brampton says detached or accessory buildings require a separate application, and all detached accessory buildings can be included in one application. Match that list to the site plan and the contractor's scope. Do not assume including a garage in the house estimate means it has been included in the correct municipal submission.

Reconcile permissions before removal

Keep the application references beside the outbuilding scope sheet. State whether slabs, foundations and contents are part of the proposed work. Check zoning and the future construction proposal separately with the relevant City staff. This guide does not decide an exemption or promise permit approval for an individual structure.
