Use the residential demolition checklist

Oakville's residential demolition page lists a demolition-control declaration, demolition permit clearances, a site plan and a tree protection declaration. Start with that current checklist and confirm its application to your proposal. Do not assume a utility disconnect letter alone forms a complete demolition application.

Coordinate the named clearances

The Town's clearance form identifies Oakville Hydro, Halton Region and Enbridge Gas. Ask which clearances apply to the property and how the current form must be completed. Keep the service identifiers in the private application file. Confirm separately what actual disconnection work and readiness evidence are required before the removal contractor attends.

Keep declarations consistent with the site plan

Check that the structure identified for removal, the replacement proposal and the tree information agree across the package. If the plan changes, ask the designer and Town which forms need revision. A signed declaration is not a substitute for resolving an incorrect site description or a missing clearance.

Separate the application from the work booking

Oakville states that a demolition permit can only be issued when the replacement-building permit is ready to be issued, with exemption questions directed to the Town. Resolve that dependency before fixing the removal sequence. Use the tree protection guide only for its planning questions; Toronto's specific permit rules do not govern an Oakville property. Oakville's current requirements and the responsible local professionals must guide the actual proposal.
